Hi, I’m Rick!
Your copywriter
from the Heartlands
Hi,
Thanks for visiting my site. The picture above is of Tulsa, OK taken by my camera drone high above the city at sunrise. Drone photography and land-based landscape photography are what I like to do in my spare time. I took the self-portrait to the right with my camera drone while I was flying it on my patio. As you might have guessed by now, I took all the photos on the site.
While I have lots of family around, the only other residents of my home are the two hard-charging “attack” dogs in the picture to the right. Meet Katie, the black poodle trying to get a tan, and Mocha, the schnoodle trying hard to ignore Katie. They are my “sounding boards” when trying out new ideas.
On a more serious note, I have the writing skills and training as well as the professional experience your firm needs in a copywriter. This professional and life experience gives me the insight your marketing needs to reach your customers.
At the beginning of my professional career, I worked in computer retail. Here I supported both business and personal users in a variety of applications. Following that I worked for several firms selling Auto ID systems. We offered complete systems from labels to printers to barcode readers as well as the software to tie it all together. My customers spanned the gamut from owner-run firms to Fortune 100 corporations.
My most recent tech sales position was with Apple, Inc. For almost 6 years I worked for Apple in sales and support at a major technology retailer selling Apple products. One of the things my team and I excelled at was selling intangibles. In this case, the intangible was the AppleCare plan Apple offers on most of their products. This translates into the knowledge of how to effectively market many different types of products for your firm.
Positioned between the time in Auto ID and the years with Apple I served as an educator in one of the premiere school districts in the nation. While employed by this school district I had two different positions. First, I served as a math and a technology teacher teaching a variety of different courses. The other position was that of Technology Implementation Manager for 23 secondary schools. My department was responsible for all aspects of technology in these schools. This included evaluations, purchases, and product implementation in these schools. My department had a $2,000,000 annual budget. We also guided the individual schools in the use of their separate budgets. I also had the privilege of serving as an Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at a local state college.
The advantage your firm gains from my experience in education is twofold. First, I come at tasks with the mind of an educator. The goal is to “teach” as well as get your clients excited about your products. It also gives me an insight into how to sell your products to the educational and edtech markets. Because, in those markets, I was your customer.
My education includes a B.S. in Math and Computer Science and an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology. These studies taught me to think in a logical and organized fashion. This is beneficial to your business, because in advertising, to coin a phrase, space, as well as time, is money! The more quickly and succinctly you can get a successful message across the better it is for your ROI!
